Chapter 1
Oh, the days of youth.
Too young to be free of debt. Yet, too old to be seen as young. Never will I be enough.
Till then, I shall face what I have to carry for whoever has me do it. I will-
“Kneel before me scoundrel!” Elspet demanded. Pointing a wooden blade triumphantly, she kept her handmaid, Jacqueline in place. As if it were a game,
Elspet saw Jacqueline’s situation as a servant bound by indebted servitude, but instead as a friend to have till dolls bore her.
Kneeling, it’s not foreign to her but will never suit her.
I never thought she’d do it. I never thought these scenes would become real.
Watching it didn’t bring joy. While in the mind of an imaginative, this won glory.
Though, it never did feel real. Not even either voice in the back of my head could think that.
All they could say was:
“Forget it. All of it.”
“Are you sure your hig-“
“Elspet.”
“-Elspet?” She asked; sighing, as she stood up. For a servant, she was well put together.
Though, she could never act like how she looked; her mannerisms of a servant were just set in stone.
“Is this a game to you?" Elspet leaned in.
“Of course not,” Jacqueline smiled. As if not being able to let loose, to fulfill Elspet’s request was alright.
“Well, then start acting like it is.” Darn, she was starting to carry the same tone her mother has; speaking every word like a command.
Jacqueline caught the sword firmly passed to her. The look of concern still lingered even though the excitement of “being a kid” grew stronger.
Maybe, just for a moment, she could have some fun with her.
“Face me!” Elspet jumped back. Lifting her sword, prepared for Jacqueline’s strike.
“As you wish,” she nodded; holding up her sword to meet Elspet's–both held side by side, she inhaled before...
